Vootie Productions was created in 1990 by Tom and Bridget Garnsey in response to the lack of live music opportunities that existed at the time in Southwest Montana. Raised on a steady diet of concerts and festivals the pair concluded that if the Northern Rockies were ever to experience high quality live music, it was up to them to make it happen. Vootie was born.
After a handful of very successful club shows, Vootie began booking theaters and outdoor venues throughout Montana and Wyoming with higher profile acts like Los Lobos, Lyle Lovett, Michelle Shocked and The Band to overwhelming response. The company's success was in no small part due to attention to proper venue choices, superior sound/lighting as well artist amenities and customer relations. It's no surprise that Vootie has established long term relationships with dozens of artists, manager and agents over a twenty year span. An extremely loyal and supportive customer fan base has also been cultivated so that the words "Vootie Presents" have become synonymous with great music and professional execution of events.
Over the next ten years Vootie produced over 500 shows ranging in scope from 200 seats to 8,000 and featuring a who’s who of national recording artists in Rock, Folk, Blues, Bluegrass, Reggae, World Music and Jazz. Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, Taj Mahal, David Grisman Quintet, Dave Matthews Band, John Prine, Alison Krauss and Union Station, Hot Tuna, Ratdog, The Wailers, Steel Pulse, Bela Fleck, Jimmy Cliff, Branford Marsalis, REM, Widespread Panic and Phish are just a handful of the successful events produced during this period. Many have returned many times to this very receptive music market.
In the mid nineties the Grand Targhee Resort in the Grand Tetons near Alta, Wyoming brought Vootie in to produce the critically acclaimed Targhee Bluegrass Festival, a twenty one year relationship that continues to this day . The resort also called on Vootie when it was time to add the more musically diverse Targhee Fest which is now in it’s twelth season and growing rapidly . These festivals are known for their intimate family friendly feel, high caliber artist lineups, smooth operation, and incredible alpine setting. Artist and audience alike share the in the knowledge that their needs will be taken care of in style at Targhee.
The new millenium brought with it an expansion of services offered as Vootie entered corporate and private event management, as well as artist booking and management arenas. While scaling back the concert promotion end somewhat, Vootie produced dozens of corporate events, private parties fundraisers, high end weddings, and special events with the likes of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, John Fogerty, James Taylor, Lyle Lovett, Chris Isaak, Jonny Lang, Bonnie Raitt, Joan Baez, Shawn Colvin and many more. For nineteen years, Vootie has been the exclusive talent buyer and producer of music related events at the world renowned Yellowstone Club, an exclusive members only ski/golf community in Big Sky Montana. Vootie also books and manages the Hooligans, one of Montana’s longest running jam/rock/reggae bands of which Tom is a founding member. Vootie recently added legendary keyboardist and songwriter Bill Payne (Little Feat, Doobie Brothers) to the management roster for handling of his solo projects.
